Hi! I am an Assistant Professor at the Computer Engineering Department, Bilkent University as of September, 2023. I lead the Applied Security and Privacy (ASAP) Lab. I have open undergraduate and graduate research positions. Prospective students can email me with a CV and transcript.

I obtained my PhD from EPFL, under the supervision of Jean-Pierre Hubaux and Carmela Troncoso at the Laboratory for Data Security (LDS, 2018-2022) and Security and Privacy Engineering Laboratory (SPRING, 2022-2023). My research interests are at the intersection of security, privacy, and machine learning. I am currently working on privacy-preserving federated learning by relying on multiparty homomorphic encryption. In particular, I apply crypto to neural networks to preserve the confidentiality of the data in the distributed setting.

Prior to EPFL, I did an internship in TAI, Turkish Aerospace Industry Inc. and another internship as an undergraduate research assistant in Simon Fraser University where I was advised by Herbert H. Tsang. I worked on a defense company, HAVELSAN, for a short time.

During my MSc, I was advised by Erman Ayday, I earned my MSc and BSc in Computer Science from Bilkent University.

Here is my full [ CV ].
